Experienced Bookkeeper

Part-time. 14 hours hours initially, with the possibility of up to 30 hours in the future.

£25,000 per year pro-rata (approx £13.75 ph) Flexibility around when and where work is done.

I’m a one-person ICB practice looking to expand. I’ve been running since 2011 and have developed a loyal local client base whom I mainly visit at their offices (almost all within 15 minutes drive of Caterham). I’m looking for an experienced bookkeeper to work alongside me while I develop the business. I work almost exclusively with Xero and FreeAgent. The offices I work in are casual and friendly. Job flexibility is a given. As long as the client’s work is done on time and in a logical fashion there’s a lot of scope for flex both in times and location.

The Person

You will have a significant responsibility for your assigned clients’ bookkeeping with minimum supervision after the initial period of settling in. Support will never be far away, but for the most part you will be expected to manage your own workload and deal with any issues that come up. You’re a capable and resourceful bookkeeper with a problem-solving attitude. You have a high attention to detail. Not afraid to stand your ground with clients or others where it’s required, but able to do so politely and with humour. You love learning and approach new software as a challenge rather than a dangerous beast. You recognise the unique opportunity we have as bookkeepers to get to know our clients and therefore help them better. You will always be looking for opportunities to do so.

  • Good experience using Xero or a very serious attitude to learning new software fast
